The initiative of “Levica” for a referendum on the termination of the Agreement with Bulgaria by the Left for the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani is another attempt to turn the Macedonian people against the European Union and the USA
“Regarding the Agreement with Bulgaria, there cannot and must not be a referendum. The agreement with the Republic of Bulgaria is one of the pillars of the Euro-Atlantic Republic of North Macedonia together with the Prespa Agreement and the Ohrid Framework Agreement. Secondly, there was a clear explanation yesterday that international agreements cannot be annulled by a unilateral decision, thirdly – national referendums on strategic issues of the state are a dangerous precedent for the Republic of North Macedonia and they must not happen”, says Minister Osmani.
He believes that the “Levica” is not a Macedonian party.
“I am limited to comment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but I have my own opinion about Levica that they are not a Macedonian party, but that they are a party in the function of Russian propaganda to turn the Macedonian people against the European Union and the USA. I don’t think they will be able to do much harm to the country because there is a wider consensus about it in the country, but they can do a lot of harm to the people they represent by trying to turn the values we share in front of them. I don’t think we should fall for that propaganda which is partly stimulated and financed and has very bad and evil intentions, first of all towards our own people and towards the state”, said Minister Osmani.
According to him, it is legitimate for the parties to use the dissatisfaction and frustrations of the citizens for political purposes, but he believes that this must have limits, that it should not be done at the expense of the future of the state and the future of the citizens.
